PEMBENTUKAN BAUKSIT DAN FERIT PADA PROFIL PELAPUKAN DI KABUPATEN LINGGA

FORMATION OF BAUXITE AND FERRITE IN WEATHERED PROFILES ON LINGGA REGENCY

Abstrak

Pelapukan dapat menjadi penyebab pembentukan mineral ekonomis seperti bauksit, ferit, nikel, mangan, dan unsur tanah jarang tipe ion-adsorpsi. Wilayah Kabupaten Lingga berada di sekitar garis Khatulistiwa sehingga beriklim tropis yang rentan terhadap pelapukan. Daerah ini juga terdapat unit-unit batuan yang berumur Paleozoikum dan dekat dengan Sutur Bentong Raub sehingga pelapukan intensif telah lama terjadi. Studi ini bertujuan untuk mengulas karakteristik geokimia hasil pelapukan batuan dan pembentukan deposit mineral terkait pelapukan di Kabupaten Lingga. Seluruh sampel yang dipelajari telah lapuk dengan mengacu pada parameter LOI, CIA, dan IOL. Diagram segitiga SiO2-Fe2O3T-Al2O3 menunjukkan bahwa ferit maupun bauksit terbentuk pada empat lokasi secara keseluruhan. Kadar Al2O3 tertinggi pada bauksit mencapai 60% sedangkan Fe2O3T tertinggi pada ferit adalah 69%. Rasio La/Y menunjukkan bahwa pelapukan terjadi pada lingkungan basa, sedangkan rasio Al/Ti menjadi dasar kesimpulan bahwa sampel berasal dari batuan felsik. Meskipun UTJ pada profil pelapukan lebih mudah diekstrak daripada dalam batuan beku, kadarnya dalam studi ini kurang menarik untuk dieksploitasi lebih lanjut karena jumlahnya yang berada pada rentang konsentrasi rendah hingga sedang. Studi berikutnya dapat dilakukan dengan mengambil lebih banyak sampel untuk penentuan daerah target eksplorasi.
