KARAKTERISTIK GAMBUT BERDASARKAN ANALISIS GEOKIMIA DAN PETROGRAFI ORGANIK DI KABUPATEN INDRAGIRI HILIR, PROVINSI RIAU
Abstract
Gambut merupakan salah satu sumber energi alternatif. Luas lahan gambut Indonesia menempati peringkat keempat di dunia, yaitu sekitar 26 juta hektar. Pemanfaatan dan pengelolaan lahan gambut di Indonesia masih sebatas untuk lahan pertanian dan perkebunan saja, sedangkan pemanfaatan gambut sebagai sumber energi masih belum dilakukan. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui karakteristik dan kualitas gambut sebagai salah satu sumber energi di Kabupaten Indragiri Hilir, Provinsi Riau. Analisis geokimia dan petrografi organik dilakukan terhadap 17 perconto gambut di daerah penelitian. Hasil analisis menunjukkan bahwa gambut di daerah penelitian mempunyai nilai kalori 3.098 kal/g s.d. 5.178 kal/g dan termasuk dalam tipe gambut ombrogenus serta diendapkan pada lingkungan yang dipengaruhi pasang surut air (telmatik). Pembentuk gambut didominasi oleh tetumbuhan berbatang lunak (marginal aquatic/herbaceous).
