PENYELIDIKAN ENDAPAN KROMIT DIDAERAH TOPOGARO- BUNGKU BARAT PROVINSI SULAWESI TENGAH
Abstract
Mineral Kromit merupakan salah satu bahan galian yang sangat dibutuhkan dalam industri-industri stainless steel, gray cast iron, iron free high temperature alloys, dan chromium plating untuk perlindungan permukaan. Di dalam mineral industri, khromit diproses bergabung dengan magnesite seperti magnesia sintered, magnesia calcined dan binders seperti clay, lime, gypsum, bauxite, dan corundum. Hasil yang diperoleh berupa bahan yang tahan terhadap tekanan, tahan terhadap perubahan temperatur, baik sebagai isolasi antara tembok bangunan terhadap asam. Biasanya persentase yang dicari adalah FeO.Cr2O3 dengan kadar Cr2O3 > 42% dan FeO <15% .
Berdasarkan hasil analisis mineralogy butir terhadap contoh konsentrat hasil dulang yang diambil selama kegiatan pemboran didaerah Topogaro, Kabupaten Bungku Barat, Sulawesi Tengah diperoleh prosentase mineral kromit (Fe2Cr2O4) dengan kandungan Cr2O3 dalam konsentrat dulang berkisar 7.961%-13.93%
Dari hasil penyelidikan permukaan, pemboran dan analisis laboratorium diketahui secara umum mineral kromit dapat dipisahkan dari mineral pengotor sehingga meningkatkan kadar kromit. Dalam hal ini, kandungan kromit tertinggi hasil pendulangan berada pada daerah Barat Laut
